 I was aimlessly thinking of things the other day as I'm wont to do, and I thought about my old LJ account (akalablossom) and I decided to see if I could get back into it, and holy gosh, there it was!! I even found cornerofmadness  and adafrog !!! Woo!!! I wonder who else there is? I know Laridian is on PF, but is he also here???????

I just got back yesterday to my bedroom after shacking up with B after K got injured in a skiing accident in BC... or maybe it was Quebec??? K travels a lot. So, and B + K's bedroom has no wi-fi signal from my modem... or whatever... so that wasn't very good lol... but, K is a good friend, and you know what they say? "A friend in need is a friend indeed!" So... since my bedroom is clear of stairs of any kind (their bedroom is on the second floor), I offered her my bed. <3

I got a Xmas card from disneydream06 and I will take pictures of it and put it on my LJ. I know, that LJ is non persona gratis in the blogging world, but if DW would get off their duffs and make a client for iOS or Android, then, y'know????

Today is my dish day. IDK how the f_ck that's gonna go bc J is also laid up with a bad knee. We are all in various stages of decay here I think.

IDK when the DNA kits are coming in but holy f_ck, I want them!! I am so interested!! XD

I have Dragula by Rob Zombie playing... lords I love that guy. XD His aesthetic is just soo... you know???

Also I have started playing the Sims 2 again. *ponders* What if I just posted things to my wp?? They have Jetpack right?? Anyways... whatevs... I'm sure Joe will chastise me lolol... *shakes head and grins sheepishly*

I think that there are political reasons for not creating clients for iOS and Android. Basically, the app would have to be for people over 18, OR they would have to bend to the whims of iOS and Android over what content is allowed.

I am not sure if you remember various "family" groups going after smut communities OR the Russian takeover of LJ banning things that were gay.

That said, I didn't know why DW wasn't building the clients so I was involved in at least one effort in trying to make one when I was much less experienced in my mobile development journey.

Yeah. Any client apps made for Dreamwidth would be at the mercy of the policy choices of Apple and Alphabet/Google.

Also, the "grandparent" company of LJ is now apparently Sberbank. And since the terms of service on LJ were changed so that only the Russian-language version would be considered valid...well, that means LJ users are expected to act as if they live in Putinist Russia.

I was semi-dreaming this morning before going back to sleep, and drifted to a short story that I was working on for a fiction class that I took when the pandemic hit us. It's about two lady librarians and a vengeful ghost: one of the lady's ancestors was responsible for the other lady's ancestor being burned at the stake as a witch. And I figured out a way to work The Sims into it!

The premise is that one of the women is the director of the library, the other is a new hire in charge of inter-library loan.  The boss takes the other to buy a fake wedding ring because they work at a law library at a university and otherwise they get hit on constantly by students with burgeoning egos!  Some of the women there are legit married, others are not, so it's a defensive measure.  Well, someone had the idea of 'Let's build our fake marriages and families into a Sims community!'  And that's where my idea sprang.

As far as I know, LJ admins usually don't delete old accounts until they have a problem with free disk space. Therefore, there are still quite a lot of journals in which no one has set foot in the last ten years.
